Our mission at Joliet First is to become a community of hope but also hope within our community.  We are learning what it means to become a place and people who exist for Joliet.   In scripture, God calls the farmers to "leave the edge" of their fields for the widow, the orphan, the poor, and the foreigner.  We are asking, what does it look like for us to become the "edges" to our community?  At JF we have four principles, markers or values guiding us toward this mission of hope:

SEEK--We believe whatever you seek will become the center of who you are.  Seeking is about aligning our life's habits with God's hopes for the world. We believe one of the greatest ways to seek is through our Sunday weekly gathering.

INVEST--We are only as invested as we are committed to a community.  Get invested  by getting connected. Community Groups are where we make our greatest investment as we learn, share, grow and care for one another.

RESTORE-- We believe  a natural response to our relationship with God is an outpouring and willingness to serve, give and love our community, the poor, and those less fortunate. As a missional church, we want to care, clothe, and feed. Currently, we partner with three local and strategic organizations who care for the orphan (Love Moves Us), clothe those in need (Hope Closet), and fills hungry tummies (Hands of Hope).  Head to our restore page to learn how you can get involved.

SEND--We believe in making, multiplying and sending leaders to change the world.  Sending is about serving.  Whether you're serving at your job, teaching our students, or planting a church, we believe everyone should be sent in some capacity.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

    Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

And born of the Virgin Mary.

    He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified, died, and was buried.

    He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

    He ascended into heaven,

And is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

    The holy Christian Church,

    The communion of saints,

    The forgiveness of sins,

    The resurrection of the body,

    And the life everlasting. Amen.

As members of the Church Universal, we join with all true believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ and in embracing the historic Trinitarian creedal statements of Christian faith. We value our Wesleyan-Holiness heritage and believe it to be a way of understanding the faith that is true to Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience.

God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to renew us in the image of God, empowering us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves, and producing in us the character of Christ. Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness.

We are a sent people, responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world, witnessing to the Lordship of Christ and participating with God in the building of the Church and the extension of His kingdom (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 6:1). Our mission (a) begins in worship, (b) ministers to the world in evangelism and compassion, (c) encourages believers toward Christian maturity through discipleship, and (d) prepares women and men for Christian service through Christian higher education
